Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Use very ripe bananas for maximum flavor and sweetness.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans Optional ingredient.

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade.
  • to taste pinch sea salt For topping.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract. Mix well until everything is combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet banana mixture. Stir just until combined; do not overmix. If using nuts, fold them into the batter gently.

Assembly and Baking

  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter, then top with the remaining batter. Finally, drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the caramel layer.
  • Place the loaf in the oven and bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cooling

  • Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

To store, wrap the bread in plastic wrap at room temperature for a few days, or in the fridge for up to a week. For longer storage, slice and wrap individual pieces for the freezer, keeping them fresh for about 3 months. Avoid overmixing to prevent dense bread.
